After a surprise breakout from a prisoner transport van, Team One is hot on the heels of Frank McCormick (Jonathan Scarfe) – a man charged with killing his infant daughter. When the Team learns that Franks isn’t at the courthouse seeking revenge against the opposing lawyer all evidence points to the fact that Frank may be planning retaliation against his wife (Cara Pifko) who gave damning evidence against him. But things take a new turn when Frank decides to abduct Kerry, taking her by force to the city morgue. The Team discovers he’s targeting Dr. Roberta Fenton (Barbara Eve Harris), the coroner who handled his case – with a mission to prove his innocence at any cost. When Kate gets a frantic call from Alexis, Team One flies to the scene discovering that her mother has been shot and that Alexis and her father (Yannick Bisson) have vanished. There’s more to this family than meets the eye. Alexis has been hiding in witness protection, and the men responsible for the triple murder she witnessed have finally tracked her down. Team One works with Jules on the inside, fighting to calm the gunman down before the waiter dies, but it’s clear there’s more to this simple hostage-taking. Team One discovers that this delusional man is merely a pawn in a much more horrific act of terror, targeting a local mosque.

But the raid goes dangerously wrong when Jackie fails to hold up her end of the deal, and vanishes with Carson… her lover. With the fate of the Team hanging in the balance, Ed’s wife Sophie goes into labour, Parker’s leadership is questioned, Spike and Wordy stare down the barrel of a life outside the SRU, and Sam and Jules, their past relationship exposed and condemned, wonder whether they’re willing to give up the job for each other. As Parker waits to hear the fate of his team, a shocking hot call comes into the station, involving one of its own...

Characters

  • Ed Lane

    Hugh Dillon

Ed is the alpha male of Team One. He’s outgoing, uncompromising, and charismatic. He thrives on the high-risk calls that are the bread and butter of his career, and rises to meet any tactical challenge with the laser-sharp instincts of a man born to be a leader. But under the uniform he’s a profoundly thoughtful man, who carries the burden of every decision he’s made… in a world where there may be no right answers, and where human fates are sealed in a split-second.

This season, the bonds of Ed’s marriage to Sophie are tested when they learn they’re expecting another baby… and she makes it plain she will no longer accept a husband whose family always comes in second to the job. Ed also confronts his brother Roy, a troubled cop who’s had the bad luck to live in Ed’s shadow all his life and will go to dangerous extremes to earn his respect.

  • Sgt. Greg Parker

    Enrico Colantoni

Parker is serious, sharp-minded and a talented people-reader. He knows how to reach out, how to talk to people at their level – whether it’s a schizophrenic off his meds, a hardened gang member or a troubled youth about to make a big mistake. But his uncanny people-reading skills were not enough to save his own family… Ten years ago, Parker’s unconditional passion for his work burned out his relationship with his wife, and he turned to heavy drinking and aggression that he couldn’t control. When she left, she took their young son Dean with her, and Parker hit rock bottom. The empathy, gentleness, insight and sobriety he embodies today are a testament to the extraordinary effort he put into recovery. He believes the best of people, because he’s living proof people can change.

This season, Parker is given a second chance when, after no contact for ten years, his son Dean shows up unexpectedly at the station… and is finally able to witness first-hand the man his father has become.

  • Julianna 'Jules' Callaghan

    Amy Jo Johnson

Jules is an exceptional markswoman, ex-RCMP who holds her own in the testosterone-pumped team environment. She has a natural, small-town, prairie-girl confidence that looks you in the face, tells it like it is and expects the truth back. It’s this grounded, upfront quality – in addition to her natural gift of human intuition and empathy – that also make her a strong right hand for Parker as a profiler and
    negotiator.

In Season Three, under Parker’s wing, Jules’s skills have been flourishing – to a point where she’s earned the right to challenge her mentor’s judgment. Jules also runs into Steve, an old high school friend now working as a paramedic. Sparks fly and it feels like it was meant to be… though as Jules begins to think forward to a family of her own, she can’t leave behind the unresolved feelings she has for Sam…

  • Sam Braddock

    David Paetkau

Sam left military service overseas with the JTF 2 (Joint Task Force 2, Canada’s elite Special Operations counter-terrorism force) to join the SRU. He’s come a long way since his arrival on the team - his cocky confidence and sense of entitlement have matured, and Sam proves himself a disciplined and crucially valuable member of the team.

While as sure a shot as ever, Sam fights hard to earn back his self confidence in negotiating, which was shaken last season when he wasn’t able to save a troubled ex-soldier with whom he had bonded. Sam endures his toughest challenges yet and comes through with flying colours, talking down a young bomber on a misguided mission, and bringing an incident with a delusional gunman in a restaurant to a peaceful close. He keeps a watchful distance as Jules finds herself drawn to Steve…

  • Kevin 'Wordy' Wordsworth

    Michael Cram

A strong martial arts expert with a surprisingly gentle soul, Wordy is a wingman you can count on, and a guy you can drink beer with. Wordy loves being a cop; he loves children and animals and women in peril. Deeply sensitive, and strong as an ox, Wordy has a romantic view of heroism – all bound into the notion of keeping the world safe for his three daughters.

Many incidents this season touch Wordy deeply – so many families fighting to stay together, making sacrifices at any cost for the people they love. But this powerful resonance for Wordy goes beyond his natural empathy for a strong family bond. We’ll learn there’s a secret he’s been keeping - one that could have profound effects both on his team and also at home.

  • Mike 'Spike' Scarlatti

    Sergio Di Zio

Spike Scarlatti is the nerve centre of the team – the technician, the Bomb Tech, the guy who keeps everyone connected. He’s an upbeat, likeable Italian guy who likes to see stuff blow up, except when it’s his job to make sure it doesn’t. Spike’s very much in touch with his inner kid and fascinated with science. He’s also a great listener, easygoing and intuitive, the peacemaker on the team who hates to see
    people fight.

This season Spike must rescue his own mentor, a tough but lovable older cop who was like a father to him on the force – a man who gave him all the unconditional support in his career choice that his real father wouldn’t. But Spike knew nothing about the dark relationship between his mentor and a notorious gang. Spike is forced to confront the tragedies he’s survived, including the loss of his best friend and teammate Lou, and is left with a painful choice to make if he is to remain on Team One.
